You can learn acoustic guitar quickly and easily. It is one of the easiest instruments in the world to learn and play. First things first, you need an instrument. If someone you know owns one, borrow it.

Next you're going to tune it. Not to worry. It's quick to learn, and you'll always remember it. You need to be in tune in order to play.

It helps if your tuned to the rest of the musical world, so if you have a (tuned) piano in your house or another guitar or electronic tuner, you can tune to that. If not, go online and find a tuning web site that has the sounds available for you to hear.

Pluck the top E string. This is the thickest string on the guitar and is known as the E string (also known as the 6th string, counting up from the bottom). Pluck it with your finger or pick and play the same E note on the piano or online. Now adjust your first tuning peg so that the sounds are exactly the same (no wavering sound between them).

Put your finger on the same string at the fifth fret. There is a dot or square to locate the 5th fret (and one at the 3rd, as well, so go to the second dot). Play the same string again (finger pressing the 5th fret) and play the string underneath that one (this is the 5th string or A). Find the tuning peg for this string and turn it to get this string in tune with the top string.

Do each string in turn using the same procedure to tune the string below it. For the 2nd string (counted up from the bottom), use the 4th fret of the string above it. This is just the way the notes fall on the fretboard. This may sound difficult, but after you've done it a couple of times, it will become part of your routine, and you'll always remember how to do it.

Now let's move on to the first 3 chords you're going to learn: C, G, and D. These chords appear in many songs, so you can start playing right away. Place your fingers on the strings and frets as sown in the pictures online. It will be awkward at first, but you'll get used to it. Strum the guitar. Sounds horrible, right? Keep at it. Within a matter of a few minutes, you'll hear the sound improving.

That's how easy it is to learn acoustic guitar. Practice strumming those 3 chords. You're going to do this until your fingertips are aching with pain. Practice changing between chords. Do it in front of the TV or waiting for your clothes to dry. Just keeping doing it. After a few days, if you don't give up, you are a guitar player. Next, go online and find songs to play with those 3 chords and add more chords. You can look for guitar tabs or tablature for the songs you like. But first, get in tune and practice until your fingers almost bleed. Do that right now, and you will never forget how to play those first 3 chords.
