When you know it is fun to play the guitar, you should also know that it is not easy too. To be a good guitarist, a lot of practice is essential. You need to put in a lot of hard work so that you play the guitar faster. When the fast numbers are constantly becoming the top songs in the blockbuster chart, you would also want to try your hand at them. There are many exercises and techniques which will help you improve your speed.

Some exercises can help you reach this goal faster.

You might already be playing the guitar fast. But the quality might not be good. You might be making many mistakes when you play it faster. Exercises and techniques can help you play the guitar faster and more accurately.

Out of the many exercises that can make you increase the speed by which you play the guitar, one of them is by working on the scales. First, you need to choose some style; work on it and most importantly stick to it. Choose a bit of music, preferably a guitar riff, which will reinstate this style and practice it many times. When you practice, also take the help of an instrument that will help you keep track of the beats. Play it with the beat and after a while, increase the speed of the beats and play it faster. When you play it, play it accurately and when you reach a comfortable speed level, practice more and more and make it perfect. Make sure you play it accurately.

There can also be techniques which help you enhance the speed of playing the guitar. Observe closely a guitar player. He/she might not be playing every note strictly. Still, the quality to the ears of the listener will be very high. Learn these techniques by observing carefully. Hammer-on is an easy technique which can help you develop speed.

One easy technique, Hammer-on requires you to be very sharp at each move. Press really hard on the fingerboard behind the fret, so that the note is heard for a slightly longer time. Another technique is known as Pull-off and it is the complete opposite of Hammer-on.

Tapping is an add-on technique to increase speed. For this, you will need to actually tap on the fingerboard. You can tap with the hand with which you strum and do the hammer-on or the pull-off with your right. To be perfect on tapping, you need to have a lot of practice. Select a riff in which the note is repeated plenty and practice it so that you master it.

To be fast, every exercise needs to be practiced perfectly. Be very careful when you practice so that you do not practice the wrong notes. Play with the same speed at least half a dozen times without discontinuing in the middle. Continuous practice is required for quality playing. Make sure you are not straining. Relax your arms, wrists, leg and feet and all other body parts with which you play the guitar.

It is important for you to enjoy every practice session. So make sure you do not do it when you are ill suffering from any sort of pain. You need to be totally fit so that you enjoy the playing session and then, so will your audience.
