The Vox Amplug

I have seen a 'mini' amp like the ones produced by Marshall before. Like the MS2 or MS4. Even Fender has it's own mini amp based on the 57 Twin Reverb. But this one is way smaller. You actually have a little mini plug that goes straight into your guitar cable socket. They even comes in 3 models. The amplug AC30, amplug Classic Rock and the amPlug Metal. All base don Vox's legendary amps. It's powered by 2 AAA batteries (alkaline gives you up to 15 hours of jamming).

It supposed to sound like the real thing. So how does it work? Well all you need to do is connect your headphones to the headphone jack and you can even hook up your Ipod via the Aux in jack so you can listen to background music and jam along with it. How cool is that?

Now this really gets me thinking... perhaps you could even hook this up to a PA system or into your existing amp and have a great sounding Vox on stage?

Here's what they say about this baby from their website:

  • Plugs directly into your guitar—a great-sounding headphone guitar amp that gives you serious sound fast.
  • Available in three styles: VOX AC30, Classic Rock, and Metal.
  • AUX in jack lets you jam along with your CD/MP3 player.
  • 100% analog circuit faithfully simulates the response of the original amps.
  • AC30 emulates the AC30 top boost sound of a vintage VOX AC30.
  • Classic Rock gives you the great high-gain sound of a UK-made 100W amp.
  • Metal delivers the explosive roar of US high-gain metal sound.
  • Up to 15 hours of battery life with two Alkaline AAA batteries.
  • Quick and easy setup! Just connect amPlug to your guitar and enjoy serious sound.
By the way, here's a video on YouTube but it's in French. This is the only quality video I found so far that really demonstrates the sound..enjoy.
