Chord inversions use diatonic chords and therefore are important for playing lead electric guitar. There are several aspects of playing the rhythm guitar well and the mastery of using chord inversions is one.

When you have moved from the basic to the advanced stage, it is possible to play around with most of the chords. So you probably know how best to play the A major guitar chord as it is one of the most elementary of most. If you are already a competent tempo guitar then you probably know how to have fun playing the A major chord with a few different variations: an open A significant chord plus the two barre guitar chord shapes, which has one having a root in the 6th stringed and the other with a main on the 5th string.

If you think maybe with all these three jobs you are ready to play your groove guitar but then here is another thing that you need to know: There are several different ways of playing A major, which usually fall under what is called lead electric guitar chord inversions.

What chord inversions really indicate is that you are playing the particular chords in inverse. If someone lets you know to play a major or minimal chord inversion on your lead guitar then it simply means that the significant or the minor chord has to be played based on a different sequencing from the root chord, which is the Next and 5th.

When the actual chord is right at the bottom it can be said that the chord is actually "Major or Minor, Root Position". These days if we move the root note to the top and leave the 3rd note at the bottom then what we acquire is the chord "Major, or Modest, 1st Inversion". And if we enhance the root further up to the center say to the 3rd from the top then this will leave the 5th at the bottom and it will be called chord "Major or Minor, Subsequent Inversion".

When you learn how to invert your chords, it will add to your overall flexibility, which will help you vastly in playing rhythm guitar especially when you are trying to bring in equilibrium using chords. There are times when the actual melody can be best performed using the top note with the chord and sometimes you will be able to get it done by playing the guitar chord at the bottom or in the center.
