Albums To Make Running An Enjoyable Hobby

By Walter Morrison

Any time I'm finished with a long run, I feel amazing. The problem is it takes me a while to get in good enough shape where I can run for a long period of time.

Being in shape is one of those things that you sometimes don't appreciate til it's gone. When you're not in shape, its very hard to get yourself going.

But listening to certain albums makes it a breeze for me and it will do the same for you too. Here are some of my favorite albums to run to.

The Postal Service is a fantastic album to run with, as it keeps a consistent beat and has some words to distract you. I like how in "The District Sleeps Alone Tonight," it speeds up in the middle of the song.

Phoenix's newest album, "Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix" is a soundtrack in itself. The album starts out strong with "Lizstomania", followed by "1901." By the time those two tracks are over, "Fences" comes in and provides a solid medium to run to.

"45:33", a 45 minute, 33 second song created by LCD Soundsystem for Nike should be on every runner's playlist. In fact the song itself is a playlist. It starts off mellow builds, it even has a cool down period! How many songs can say that?

The Red Hot Chili Peppers are the exception to this article, as they are the only band that does not incorporate electronic elements into their music. Still, songs like "Snow," "Dani California" and "Venice Queen" are fantastic to run to if you need to let some steam loose.

Another great album to run to is Kanye West's College Dropout. Aside from the fact that you already know every song by heart on this album, Kanye's silly lyrics are entertaining enough to keep your mind off running. Just don't sing along out loud because it will waste energy.
