French Music is defined by music legends belonging to the genres of classical, pop, folk and rock music. French pop music featured many talented and well known singers hailing from Quebec, Belgium and France. The francophone market consisted of people crazy about pop music in France. The fan-following became huge and there was a distinct variation of French pop from French rock. Some of the famous people related to French music world are mentioned below:

Brigitte Bardot is normally associated with film and has graced the French cinema for several decades. However, aside from being a world-renowned film actor and ballet dancer she also recorded a number of songs after retiring from film in 1973. She collaborated with the likes of Serge Gainsbourg during the 60s and 70s.

Serge Gainsbourg is known around the world for his uniquely incredible tenor voice and is considered the most popular singer and songwriter in France. To date he has written over one thousand songs in a number of languages. He not only writes in many languages, but he also sings in those languages, as well.

Jane Birkin is an English born singer who has had a remarkable career in stage, films, and music. She began her career in the 1960s in London had an appearance in the film, "Blow Out." She later went on to star in the movie"Slogan" in which she collaborated with Serge Gainsbourg. This led to series of collaborations. One such collaboration is the duet, "La Chanson de Slogan" which she did with Serge.

Patrick Bruel was born May 14, 1959. His first single, "Vide," was not a success. He came back with a second single, "Marre de Cette Nana-l," and it, was a hit. He has at least five studio albums and a number of live albums to his credit. He released Entre Deux in 2002. He has performed duets with Charles Aznavour, Jean-Louis Aubert, Jean-Jacques Goldman, Alain Souchon and Renaud.

Carla Bruni was a fashion icon who quit fashion and became highly popular for her songs. She writes lyrics for songs, composes and sings. Here are a few of her famous songs - Notre Amour Est Mort, Ta Tienne, La Possibilit D'une le, Il Vecchio E Il Bambino and L'antilope.

Julien Clerc was introduced to the world of music by his parents and started playing the piano by the age of 6. He met his future song writers during his university days, and released his first album when he was 21. He starred in many successful concerts and by 1970 was the most popular icon in French pop music.

Today, many people regard French pop music as being great. The words are what draw most people to French pop music. Many people from all regions of the world are attracted to French pop music for it's fabulous sound and dance music. French pop music attracts quite a few young French people too.
