Read About Subwoofers

By Jennifer Gray

Standard car audio and video systems contain little audio speakers having restricted power to recreate low-frequency sounds. Cheap subwoofers may increase a lot more detail to a car audio and video system by recreating wavelengths below one hundred fifty hertz. A bass speaker will add powerful and effective bass to your mobile entertainment and you'll love it.

Most car audio subwoofers are installed in the trunk due to space limitations in the cabin of the car. Subwoofers are usually 10 inches or 12 inches in diameter although they can be as big as 34 inches and as small as 4 inches.

Larger bass speakers enable more potent air displacement that is crucial for lower wavelengths.

The amp for car stereo subs could be built into the vehicle or installed in a box. The amplifier needs to have a digital crossover to remove high-frequency tunes prior to the signal passing to the bass speaker.

Although vehicle audio subs are often round fit, lately manufactures happen to be presenting subs in new shapes. These innovative designs might be simpler to set up in cars with only a little space, but there's no acoustical benefit to nonround shapes.

There are many premade enclosures for car audio subwoofers on the market. Alternatively, you can have one custom-made or build one yourself. When you buy a subwoofer driver, you will usually receive a spec sheet which gives you guidelines for enclosure requirements. Also check out the spec sheets for power requirements and linear response - a flat response will give the truest sound.

Also be sure to not overpower or under power a subwoofer. If it's rated for 300 watts RMS, give it 200 to 300 watts of continuous power. As close to it's RMS rating as possible is best.
