Tips On How To Train your voice

By Pamela C Smith

Did you always want to know how to train your voice? Have you always wanted to be a good singer , then this article will give you all the information you need. The way you sing depends on various factors like your posture, volume, breathing and emotions. These basic guidelines will help you to get started.

Posture: When you are starting your singing lessons always stand when you sing. Stand with your feet apart at shoulder width. Your knees should be slightly bent because locking them for long periods can result in unconsciousness. The back and the neck should be held straight. Your can tilt your head slightly upward or downward when singing the higher or lower notes. But never tilt your head sideways as this will result in neck fatigue and quite frankly look strange. Look straight ahead and relax.

A good way to monitor your breathing as you practice is to place your hands on your stomach. If you are breathing properly, you should inhale silently filling your lung. It is important to breathe through the nose and not the mouth. Correct breathing will make your abdomen and diaphragm expand upwards and contract as you let the air out. When you breathe out make sure that it is done slowly and evenly so that you can conserve your breath to hit the high notes.

The shape of your mouth and lips should be small, round and circular. It is important to not open the mouth too much or too less as this will restrict the movement of the air. You should try to increase the hollow space on the inner part of your mouth to produce fuller rounder sounds. For this start by resting your tongue at the bottom of your mouth and elongate the jaw slightly. This will raise the soft palette increasing the hollow space.

You should also try and pronounce each word clearly without slurring the different consonant sounds in a word. When singing certain types of songs you may have to stress on some of the words.

The proper way to sing is when you can hear yourself. Not being able to hear yourself will increase the chances of singing off key. If you are doing it right singing loudly and softly will need the same amount of breath. There is a possibility that you may feel vocal strain, this would mean that you are not following the techniques correctly. If you want to ensure control over the volume of your voice use diaphragmatic breathing. An easy technique to increase your volume is to move your hands forward on after another.

Finally it is important the emotions be reflected on your face if you want them to be heard in your voice. A smile will simply not create the correct effect for a melancholic song what you will need here is a somber expression.
