Decent - Auvio Wireless Headphones Review

By Sarah Price

They do not dwell on the surround sound capability. But, I have found the surround sound to be incredible. Unfortunately, none of the digital headphone systems will allow you to watch TV with your loved ones. I am using a Sennheiser analog headphone system Sennheiser RS 130 Wireless Surround Sound Headphones and it works perfectly, no delay so I can enjoy my evening TV with my wife.

I bought a set of these a few weeks ago. I'm an overnight worker and try to keep my sleep pattern regular, so I'm often up all night on my nights off.

The kids are blessed with excellent hearing, while mine has been sub-standard most of my life. My wife and kids were constantly telling me to turn the volume down.

In a word I did not like it. You could tell it was trying to distill the 5.1 mixes down to 2 channels & frankly it did not do a good job. But, to be fair, there are a couple walls and partially a refrigerator between the headphones and the transmitter. I can listen to them upstairs, the signal going through the floor, no problem. With this easy modification, I give this headset a solid 5 STARS. Too bad Sennheiser didn't do this at the factory, but it is very easy to do at home. The sound of this headset is outstanding.

I couldn't be happier with these headphones. Zero background noise. I can essentially use them anywhere in my house and some outside as well. Near the perimeter of the range you will get some cutting out, but step one foot closer and they're as clear as they are one foot from the base.

This out-of-phase problem is not something I hadn't heard about before. Prior to purchasing the 180's I read reviews to the extent they existed (the 180's are a new product) and found a review where this problem was pointed out. I can walk into other rooms on the same floor without drop-off, though if I go upstairs from the base station, I do encounter some occasional zones where reception drops off. I can't say as how good the reception would be if I went outside to deck or yard -- an occurrence unlikely at the moment, since it's sub-zero outside where I live.

The sound is really great quality, and because they are so lightweight, you can probably wear them for hours without any discomfort. I highly recommend these headphones, especially for couples who don't have the exact same sleep schedule. I can listen at any level I wish and no one is disturbed. In addition, the sound quality is superb. I used these to replace a set of Sennheiser RS 140 wireless headphones. Unlike the 140, the 180 are digital -- no static or white noise. They're not inexpensive, but they work (for me) really well. I purchased these for my step-father.
