By Danielle Atkinson

Italian accordion music is really soothing. When you hear someone sings in Italian, you will have the sudden image of yourself in Italy, having the best meal of your life and seeing the beautiful scenery in town. In order to understand what it is, it is a box-shaped instrument and it is sometimes called a squeezebox.

It all began in the 18th century when the French introduced it in Italy. Since then, many factories have produced many instruments until now. Guido Deiro is one of the famous musicians of the world. He is the one who coined piano accordion in 1910. In the early music charts, his song Kismet got the top spot and it was used by many Hollywood movies.

This next musician was born in Calabria, Italy on the 20th of July, 1921. Carmen Carrozza also made a big impact. When he was still young, he was interested in many instruments like violin, accordion and piano. Carmen chose to study in a music school. When he graduated, he received the highest award because of his performance. In 2002, he was given a lifetime achievement award by the American accordionist association.

Tony Lovello has admired his father for playing this instrument. At the age of five, he had begun studying it and memorizing everything that his father taught him. Tony mastered it and he started playing 48 bass in NYC. When he retired, he decided to go in the hotel business, then married his secretary Jo Ellen.

He was seventeen when Mika Vyrynen first learned and played this instrument. When he reached the peak of success, he toured many countries like Japan, USA, China and mostly European countries. He was always present in a major Finnish orchestra and has worked with famous conductors of the world. He recorded more than 20 CDs since 1990.

These musicians have made beautiful Italian accordion music. Many people idolize them and began studying of their own to be a next generation musician. italian accordion music
