Arabic Music, The Industry

By Mike Shimun

Arab Music Started in early centuries of 5 and 6 AD. Music was a very important part of culture to the people in those times.

Currently, music is found everywhere, homes, work shops and concerts. It's a part of everyday life. The major influencers of todays music are Samira Said, Nancy Ajram, Amr Diab and many more. They impliment current style music into their music to blend in with todays modern stylized music.

Nancy Ajram, a famous and popular singer in the arab world, has brought out many albums since her career started in 1998. 1998: Mihtagalak, 2001: Sheel Oyounak Anni, 2003: Ya Salam, 2004: Ah W Noss, 2006: Ya Tabtab...Wa Dallaa, 2008: Betfakkar Fi Eih?!, 2010: 7. These are the albums she is known for.

Right now, the music industry has suffered enough because of the amount of files the internet has been able to produce to people trying to download music instead of buying it. The decline in sales has put many record labels out of business and some even struggling to sell any albums.

The major sites that allow music to be downloaded are 6rb and 6rbtop which allow users to download full albums and mp3 files directly. These websites are hijacking the artists, and basically allow users to illegally obtain files, which have not been purchased or payed for, basically illegal activity.

Websites which don't allow file sharing are bezmara.net and streamarabia.com. They are great sites for people looking for news or just reviews on albums or the top artists currently selling albums. These sites are mainly focused on current غاني mp3.

Bezmara.net allows users to sign up for an account which allows them to post reviews on albums, and share news, and also share thoughts on what's happening to the arab music industry.
