Autographed Guitars: Avoid Professional Forgeries

By Mark Turgeon

There are many fake autographed guitars out there in the world, but here are also many authentic ones as well. It is hard to prove the validity of a signature, and many scam artists are making a living on producing fake items to profit on and not caring about the negative energy they are creating just to make a buck.

There are very few professional memorabilia experts with exemplar signature(s) experience out there that are pushing to eliminate the world of forgery autographs, but on the other hand they are competing against people that have spent countless hours perfecting a fake signature.

Autographed guitars are one of the rarest pieces of memorabilia to get your hands on, because they are the most difficult type of collectible to get signed. Artists sign thousands of posters, CD's, LP's, and other small scale items throughout their careers. However, getting an artist to sign a guitar is not as easy of an accomplishment.

However, these items do exist, and can be found with authentic signatures, if you know where to look. About 70% of the products found online are usually fakes of some sort. These can be copies, forgeries, or even just ads with no real memorabilia to back them up.

Many memorabilia dealers and collectors are banding together in an attempt to stop the people who are succeeding without consequence at selling this fake material. However, the fraud artists do still exist, and will continue as long as they are profiting from their scams.

Too many people get overexcited when they find autographed guitars with their favorite band's signatures on it. Then they often don't take the necessary steps to determine the validity of the item they're purchasing; they just take the seller's word for it and spend money on something that might be fake.

If you are interested in purchasing authentic autographed guitars, you need to make sure the dealer is reputable, and the signed item is certified or has some kind of proof backing this item up. If for any reason you are not certain, walk away from the purchase and find another dealer.

When it comes down to spending lots of money on signed memorabilia, make sure its 100% authentic, so it's worth the investment. Authenticity is always important when is comes down to collecting and buying autographed guitars. There are many scam artists and forgeries that are circulating the market and you can never be too careful viewing the legitimacy of signatures on signed memorabilia. All the Best Mark Turgeon
