Grinding Dance Techniques For The Beginner

By Kimberly Meleski

Have you been drawn into the hottest dance craze to hit the party scene. Trying to get into grind dancing. If you've ever had a go at this form of dance style you'll know how important it is to get it right. Getting this dance style wrong will probably lead to a bit of an embarrassing night.

With that being said, picking up on some grinding dance tips can't go too far wrong. It's going to prepare you well in advance for the night ahead and help you make the right moves.

Most blokes take the wrong approach to the use of grinding dance styles. It's often seen as the easier solution than the traditional pick up lines that can become stale, outdated and not worth anybodies time.

A typical problem among guys, I'm sure you'll agree. One in which is inevitably going to lead to them feeling frustrated wondering what they're doing wrong. Or even embarrassed when they know they've got it wrong.

The other problem that crops up is that the grinding style of dance is quite an acquired taste. Not every girl is going to appreciate a bloke coming into their private space as it's pretty much as up close and personal as dancing can get but there's an easy way to figure this out.

Here's a simple step that will enable you to subtly move in and start off the grind dancing sequence without coming on strong. Additionally, it will help your dance partner to feel more comfortable with this nature of dancing.

In saying that, the one thing you should keep in mind about grinding dance techniques is that the focus is always on the hips. Nothing to do with fancy footwork. It's all in the hips.

By focusing on the hips alone, instead of footwork, you'll be able to move to the beat of the music without destroying the mood by toe stepping sort of thing.

Anyhow, in order to gently ease into a grinding dance routine with a girl, (remember not all girls like this style of dance), you'll want to find out if it's ok to go on. To find this out, without putting a girl in an uncomfortable position...here's how to go about it.

Initiate this by starting face to face with the girl. Don't go straight in and start right away. Ease into it. The reason is what was mentioned earlier. Not all girls appreciate this dance style. So you first want to establish that point first. To do this just take her by the hand, right or left, and initiate a twirl. Sort of what you'll see from ballroom type dancing. Do this elegantly.

After that, you move when back is towards you. You should still have her hand in yours. The key here is to move in timely when your partner has only turned 180.

Now you're both set for grind dancing. This is the stage that you need to establish if she's comfortable with this dance style.

Just by initiating that little spin move is all it takes to find out if a grinding style of dance moves are ok with her.

What happens by using this method is that you're creating a comforting feeling just by initiating that spin. This is because she now has her arms crossed across herself in a hugging position.

The hugging position creates a level of comfort.

At this stage, keep hand to hand contact and start to ease into some grinding dance moves. Don't force this remember. Just move naturally and with rhythm, swaying your hips in tandem with your partners to the beat of the music.

If at any point you sense a feeling of unease you just break out the grinding dance style similar to the way you started out.

You can do this by just reversing the move you used to initiate the first spin to start grind dancing. Just take her hand in the same fashion and elegantly spin her back round to be face to face with you and continue on dancing from there.

Doing it this way and taking the lead role to both initiate the grind dancing or to break away from it, is just a way to be sure you're not being to forward for comfort.
