Festival season is fast approaching and it's nearly time to dig out those wellies and prepare to get muddy! After a long cold winter, who can blame us for looking forward to a good old fashioned knees up? If festival vibes are your thing, Britain can certainly deliver the goods. Over the years, Britain has seen more and more festivals make their marks on the festival circuit; meaning music lovers are completely spoilt for choice. Catering for all genres from folk and rock to jazz and techno, Britain's got it covered!

One of the first festivals that we feel you should know about is Rockness, aptly named because of its location, on the shore of the world famous Loch Ness. Acts to grace the stages in the past include Daft Punk, The Chemical Brothers and Groove Armada. This is a great little festival, and if you're lucky you may even catch a glimpse of Nessy!

For the rock and metal fans out there, you should definitely make the effort to experience the Leeds and Reading festival. Located in Bramham Park in Leeds and Richfield Avenue in Reading, these festivals take place simultaneously with the same line-ups. Wherever you are in the country, choose your closest location and head on down to the mosh pit!

Now, the mother of all festivals and arguably the most famous in the world takes place on a farm in deepest Somerset. Glastonbury has a long history dating back to 1970 when hippy spirit and free love were the flavour of the day. Now the festival is somewhat more commercial, attracting 135,000 revellers in 2010. The festival is truly spectacular and every year the organisers book some of the hottest names in music.

Our final recommendation is one of the quirkiest festivals we've been to. That goes by the name of Bestival and takes place on the Isle of White in September, towards the end of festival season. Hosted by Radio 1 and Sunday Best DJ Rob da Bank, this festival has a different theme each year and a fancy dress party on the Saturday in accordance with that theme. Bestival is a great way to finish off the summer and have one last party before the winter season closes in. With great acts every year, from pop legends to the latest underground electronic, we highly recommend you check it out!
